Study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that multivitamin supplementation improves memory in older adults

This large-scale, long-term randomized clinical trial offers more evidence that essential nutrients may help slow age-related cognitive decline.

A recent study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that multivitamin supplementation helps improve memory in older adults.

Age-related cognitive decline typically begins around 70 and higher, making maintaining cognitive abilities a top priority for aging populations – yet few effective strategies to slow cognitive decline currently exist. Meanwhile, many older adults already believe that taking daily vitamins or dietary supplements helps ward off cognitive impairment. Now we have a larger-scale, longer-term clinical study to support that belief.

The trial included 3,562 older participants who were randomly assigned either a multivitamin supplement (Centrum Silver) or placebo and evaluated annually using a neuropsychological test battery conducted through the internet for three years.

After one year, participants who took a daily multivitamin showed significant improvement in episodic memory (via immediate recall performance on the ModRey test) compared to the placebo group, which was sustained over three years. Researchers estimated that the multivitamin intervention improved memory performance above placebo by the equivalent of 3.1 years of age-related memory change.

At NutriOriginal, we recognize the vital role of essential nutrients in supporting brain health, which is one of the many reasons we provide manufacturers with high-grade, certified organic botanicals that have been identified to contain a significant amount of vitamins or minerals.

Our Storg-B compound, rich in B vitamins, is crucial for cognitive function and provides comprehensive protection for the brain.

Specifically, niacin, a key component of our plant-based Storg-N compound, supports proper brain cell function by shielding them from oxidative stress and potential injury.

Additionally, our organic Storg-E compound contains vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that aids in safeguarding brain cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Consumers of all ages are becoming more concerned about cognitive impairment. They are seeking out effective, science-backed strategies to help slow age-related cognitive decline. This ground-breaking study is just one more piece of evidence that multivitamins offer brain health benefits.

Driven by science and innovation, NutriOriginal will continue to dedicate significant resources to multiple initiates in the science of botanical ingredients for human health. If you’re a product manufacturer or formulator, don’t hesitate to get in touch to learn how our organic botanicals can be formulated into your next brain supplement.
